I’m originally from Russia but grew up in Southern California and eventually settled in Pennsylvania. Back in 2017 I wrote about my journey to becoming a data scientist at The Wikimedia Foundation – the non-profit organization behind Wikipedia – where I have been practicing data science for over 10 years as analyst, builder, and manager.

In 2021 I stepped into the role of Data Science Manager and led the Product Analytics team of 7 data scientists within the Research and Decision Science group for about 4 years. Under my leadership, the team strengthened its expertise and grew its ability to solve complex problems using data, statistical analysis, and machine learning.

In 2025 I transitioned back to individual contributor as Staff Data Scientist embedded on the Experiment Platform team, building and advancing the Foundation’s experimentation (A/B testing) capabilities and enabling rapid, data-informed product development.

I’m a big fan of R and many of the tutorials and blog posts I’ve written here are about doing stuff in/with R. (And working on the Wikimedia Foundation’s internal experimentation platform has made me a big of Python as well!) I’ve developed a few packages.

I love my wife and son, and I love cooking delicious meals for them.
